The 2nd Melodies Concert 2016

The Melodies is a University Choir-led event that began with its first concert in 2015.It is one of the spiritual activities at LivingStone International University that is focused on giving young people the opportunity to express themselves through worship and praise and to expose their talent to the rest of the world.

Singing is a great gift from the Lord, so we aim at strengthening the spiritual lives of students by encouraging them to use their gifts to minister to other people and to live a better life. The event happens every second semester of every academic year, near the spiritual emphasis week.

Students compose their own songs; they do this as a way of ministering through composition and performing. The university always takes responsibility to support these students by providing musical instruments and the necessary guidance needed throughout the event.

This year’s 2nd Melodies Concert occurred on 12 March 2016 and was a great, sizzling, spiritual event with a number of student bands—such as The New Melodies Band and The Trumpets—performing great compositions in different genres: from Afro and Zouk to RnB and Acoustic. Among the guests who attended were Pastor Fillan and Richard from Arua, Cornerstone Academy, Leadership Academy from Southern Sudan, and the Guest of Honor, Florence Rukundo.

We are looking at taking The Melodies to a level where it is always open to the community, and not only for students as it is now. We want to involve different musicians: to come, attend, mentor, and inspire students. We are focused on connecting to different music groups that have international audiences and on creating a great platform for students to sing, work, connect, and minister easily with international groups.- Says Nicholas Nambedde: Chaplain, LivingStone International University

The Theme for the 2nd Melodies Concert was:

Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Hebrews12:12 NIV
